Richard,

In response to your inquiry about the skin on hatch combing as follows:
First of all,sew the lower part of the skin to the bottom of the hatch combing.
Do this by using a single strand of line and a needle. Use a running stitch and
go all around the combing. Then do it again. Hide the knots under the tubing
on the inside.
Next cut the fabric at the top of the hatch combing with a hot knife. Make it
level with the top of the combing. (some people fold it over to the inside of
the combing and sew it there). I cut it at the top and then attach the rope
around he hatch combing with a barbor poll type stitch using the top holes of
the combing and putting the fabric in between the metal and rope. Be sure to
stretch the fabric as you go.

As for the symetry of the hatch combing... I just practiced and made it match
the drawing which was pasted to a bending jig. Made from 2 pieces of 3/4 inch
pressed board. The upward bend of the tubing was done by putting plywood over
the co\mbing ring and havins my son stand on it then slowly bending it upward a
little at a time till it met the drawing....

good luck
