I was talking to a friend of mine today, and baidarka construction came
up. After thinking for a while, we decided that a frame made of welded
steel could be quick to build, strong, nearly as light as aluminum (if the
tubing was carefully selected), and with a lot of paint sort of corrosion
resistant. Has a welded baidarka been built?

I'm going to build myself a kayak/baidarka type boat this summer. If
this hasn't been done, or if it has with good success, please let me know
so I can consider it.

Thanks a lot.
