Since you are in Canada, you can more easily than the USA contingent (and
economically) get Industrial Formulators' (Burnaby, BC) "S1" epoxy sealer
which is thin and penetrating 1:1 epoxy varnish with many useful features,
among them a 48-hour (room temp, 10 days or so fridge) pot life so you can
mix some up and coat things at leisure over a few days. Very penetrating
sealer for wood, nylon, or concrete in case you have any in your boat.
Aromatic solvents however, which help to remind you that you are
being exposed to amines. You want to waterproof nylon lashings because
nylon stretches when wet. If you melt all loose ends nothing will unravel.
Pine tar and/or beeswax, asphalt, spar varnish, etc. all work.
