Subject: Baidarka construction - back to basics

Am beginning to gear up to begin construction of a double based on
George Dyson's tube aluminum double. The difference being I am going
forward using Joseph Lubischer's "living vessels" paper as a basis to
construct out of wood and using maximum flexibility as an end product.

P.S. if you want to see what the result looks like in aluminum, look
in "THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO KAYAK TOURING" 1995. There is a picture of
three pulled up on shore on page 19.

A great resource is the compilation of communications that George has
collected. It has openned my eyes to the potential and also some solutions
to how and what.

If anyone is of like mind, I would be interested in communicating as
the vessel progresses.

I have constructed three aluminum tube singles and am very happy with
them. With a family, a double comes in handy and besides there is
the enjoyment of construction.
