Where on the boat would you have the lacings? Stern, entire deck, between
cockpits.

Would you want the velcro inside or outside of the lacing? If the
lacings are on the deck I would expect water to collect in the
design diagramed and seep into the boat. A velcro closure over the
lacings could cut down on the water collecting in the laced section.

Another area that could be important is how the ends of the opening
come together. It would be a shame to have a design that was water
tight for the length of the seam but open on the ends.
