As I was approaching Portland on 295, to my chagrin I saw an exit
which read "Waterfront" or something similar. When I was a kid and hung
around Portland a lot (I went to high school there) this was always known
as Commercial Street -- I hope Kirk was the only one who was lead astray
(next year I'll give the LORAN coordinates...)

I wish I had gone on Saturday -- the baidarkas weren't there on
Friday.
I managed to escape the show without spending too much money at the brass
table...& I confessed I lingered too long admiring the Buzzard's Bay 25...

p.s. while on the paddle thread, I would mention that I stopped by the
Alden Ocean Shell booth. They offered oars which were unique, to me at
least. The oars had rather large blades (ala George's pizza) which were
shaped like triangles! They were touted as very high performance oars. I
will dig out the brochure tonight and see if I can describe these a bit
better tomorrow.
