Dear Bill,
The sewing is a bit of a problem. I suggest that you get extra fabric and practice the stem before you put all the work into sewing and then messing up the stem stitches. I practiced on my first boat and still did not allow enough fabric for the "inside of the mouth" area. As Ross Perot says measure twice and cut once. Be sure to put tight basting stitches inside the "mouth" area. Start sewing at the top and go down into the mouth and then up the prow. Stop b-4 you reach the top of the prow. Now filp the kayak upside down and make your cut from the base of the prow upward to the top of the prow. The top of the prow can be either done with a cap with a stitch around the top of the prow or just make darns to take up material. The stitches on the top of the prow will look like the peace sign if done right. Practice with extra cloth first.... Also, the shrinking takes out a lot of wrinkles. When you are ready to put the fabric on let me know and I'll send you what I have at th
at time......
Attaching the rudder is simple. it is done with 1" webbing and just stitched "tightly" in place. I would suggest you use the boat without it first though. I do not use a rudder on my single and don't need it. I do need it on my double though. One of the problems with a rudder is you must keep your feet on it at all times this can get old after a while.

Jump into it. Any mistake can be fixed with money and time.......
