I agree with Garry Rose re using the nylon supplied by Geo.
Dyson to redo the Klepper... wonderful stuff to work, hand
sown (I used two needles, zig-zag, 1 centimeter between
stitches)... and when coated with 5 or 6 coats of Hypolon,
unbelievably strong (just try sewing it after the Hypolon is
on!!!)
Re "Markair" question... my redo of the bow is only a result
of how I somewhat screwed it up the first time... I trimmed
off too much material before finishing the bow... as a
result, the split between the upper and lower bow is shorter
that planned... and the skin is so tight around the bow
that the gunnels are pulled in slightly...its not a
performance nor safety issue... it's just not RIGHT...(got
to remember that I am Mr. Anal Retentive...)
Regarding the use of an extra length of tubing to stiffen
the hull...I think the key question is whether the hull
should be stiffened (veritical flex only) or not... how it
gets done is secondary...certainly another section of tubing
would stiffen it...but do we want to?...and then, based on
George's comments, should that extra stiffness be in the
keel area or in gunnel area?..(Gunnel area sounds right)
That's my question...TLC
