Although this does not cover boats, some of you may be interested in
seeing an ethnography by the late David Rockafeller on the Dugam Dani
(sp) tribe in New Guinia (late 1960's before he was killed and eaten by a
related coastal group). They show the use of stone tools shaping wood
and a boars tooth used as a spokeshave. If any of you manage to do your
shaping a lot faster with metal hand tools, let me know. And if you can
start a fire with nothing but gathered materials like the naked little
boy in the film you're doing well. Sorry, I don't know where to obtain a
copy. Probably a local university would have access to it through thier
Anthropology dept. Bob Patrick
They say knowlege is power. We seem to have a power shortage here.
