Hey Ho,
I am just about to skin my kayak. I had planned to do it in canvas sealed
with spar UVA varnish. However, I have just come across a local flag and
canoe builder that makes a "Canoe Duct" cloth which is a #10 (12oz) canvas
sealed with hypalon - which creates a 17oz waterproof cloth. It also has
UVA-UVB inhibitors. He and his customers sew the cloth to canoe frames. As
the hypalon is already on the canvas, it would mean I could avoid all of
those toxic fumes from applying hypalon or varnish myself.

Apart from the width (58") it sounds ideal for my kayak. Has anyone on this
line used this type of cloth or something like it? Is it hard to sew it
taught - as there would be no shrinkage as there is when varnish is applied
to the canvas?

Any insights or thoughts would be helpful.
Thanks
