Seats are also a favourite discussion topic for recumbent cyclists on
the human powered vehicle list (kayaks count as hpv's too, but most of
the discussion is about more complicated vehicles). One way of making a
close fitting seat has been mentioned several times. Rally car drivers
apparently often build a rough shell, put a plastic bag over it, squirt
some foam in and sit down while the stuff hardens. The foam shapes
itself to exactly fit the body. I don't remember how hard or soft the
foam is, but people did mention that there is absolutely no ventilation.
