A little while ago someone asked about the weight of a wood frame Baidarka. I
finished Hypalon-ing my boat last week, so it has had a little time to dry.
It is a modified Dyson 5.28m design - LOA18'3", Beam 24" and an extra hatch
(dog-pit), stringers white pine, ribs oak, skin #10 duck canvas. I was
pleasently surprised yesterday when I weighed it and it came in at 20kg (45
lbs) . Now I am just waiting for the weather to thaw (it is snowing as I
write this) and the skin to cure.
