Subject: Big Feet and Baidarkas
Hey, has anyone out there modified the dimensions of the Baidarka in
Wolfgang's book to fit size 12 or larger feet? I've been playing around with
mock ups and I can't seem to justify any particular adjustments to the
height and width of the foot brace/deck beam. Also, how much useful foot
room is provided below the ribs in the "V" section of the hull or should I
just count on what is available above the ribs? I'm considering lashing in
some thin material to create a platform but is this necessary or desirable?
I don't have the book with me but I believe that it shows a platform of this
type lashed to the underside of the ribs.
Thanks,
John Gerlach
