I'd be concerned that the grain of Curly Willow is not conducive to straight
bending stock. If you saw out your bending stock, you might be plagued by
grain runout.
How does it split? That would be the better way to go.
You can get a froe (a special wood splitting tool, used for shakes) at
Hardwick's or the Wooden Boat Shop on Boat St.
