Rob,

Why do you want to go so complex ?? we had a long session on lightweight
skins. The ideal is:

polyester coated with PVC, gluable and weldable with a properly set hot
air gun. If you want tougher skin: buy a higher weight version. This is
orderly cover for trucks and for tent-like structures. It comes in many
weights, colors and is UV resistant.

If you want to paint, then use a rubber-clorine paint or even better a
paint conceived for revamping inflatables. International Courtals
coatings has one...
