Russell, The covering in Wolf's book is cotton canvas. He describes how
to stretch it and tighten it. It will shrink when wet. It is true, it
is not so tough as the nylon. It is one heck of a lot cheaper, and, it
works quite well. My personal opinion is to use it for a first boat, get
the experience of stretching the canvas and enjopying the baidarka, then,
if you still want to try nylon, go on to tthe nylon. Wolf goes into his
reasoning on not using the nylon. Worth reading the whole book through a
couple of times before you start. You may want to change the deign of the
boat or do alterations until you get it down. Much easier with canvas
than nylon. Just an opinion. Bob
