Subject: Rib material -- Hah!

Hah! This weekend I drove a long way and went through no small effort to
go on a river to pick willow shoots. I was driving down the road 15
minutes from here and looked over onto the sholder. Willow shoots! All
over the place! Not branches but shoots, 3 to 5 feet long, 3/4" to an
inch around at the base. I stopped the wagon at the next clump and in 5
minutes had about 10 very nice future ribs. Then another thunderstorm
moved in, a real gully-washer, and I had to give up for the evening.
Tomorrow night by dark I will have enough ribs to put in the second
frame, and by Thursday I will have enough for the third. Sometimes you
can't see the forest for the willow shoots.
