The kayak building videos are leaving on their way today to William L. in
Calhoun, GA. I must say, they are worth waiting for! That someone was able
to document so well the Netsilik lifestyle (or the two small pieces of it
that I have seen) is an amazing thing. It's archaeology made real, a time
machine. Makes me wish I could see the entire series (hint, hint..) ;)
Listening to the Netsilik tongue with no translation or subtitling is
wonderful. It is like learning a language by immersion -- if one were to
watch the whole series (repeatedly) he could probably come away with a
working knowledge of the language. Fascinating!
