Subject: skin shrinkage
I am kind of confused. I keep reading about the shrinkage of various skin
materials. Cotton is easy, put it in water and it shrinks. The synthetics
sound tricky... Do they shrink and stretch back to the original size? Does
nylon shrink when wet or does it stretch when wet and shrink when dry? And
this misting and steaming it with an iron...does that shrink it permanently
or does the stuff stretch back to the original size when it dries? Nylon
rope shrinks when it is dry and stretches when it is wet, doesn't it? If
there is more shrinkage in the wider areas of the skin, then there must be a
hell of a lot of shrinkage in the length of the skin -- how could you
compensate for that much shrinkage?
Any explanations appreciated.
