True, but we are speaking of really smooth surfaces, not of still very
rough ones. Don't get people mixed up, it's not fair...
IN practical terms: a brand new gel coat may perform better at higher
speeds if abraded with a 600 grit water resistant abrasive paper (used
in car body shops). This at least to my dinghy sailing experience
