Hi,
I couldn't spread accurate depictions of these plans in a .tif format -- I think this
would be a violation of copyright (plus I unfortunately don't have rady access to a
scanner).
As to the second question, I didn't enlarge frames images by software, although during
construction I did blow up some of the parts details with a photocopier. What I did
do, software-wise, was to loft the stations full-size using a bare-bones CAD package
(in this particular instance I used MacDraw). When dealing with a hard-chine designs,
this is where a low-cost CAD package shines. You simply set the cursor to display X-Y
coordinates (after first establishing a centerline and a baseline). Move the cursor
until the X-Y coordinate matches a listing in the table of offsets. Click the point.
Repeat the process until the entire station is described. Then connect the dots with
lines. The stations on the Aleut 5.8 are so small that you can print most of them out
(as half-stations) full-sized on an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet! Can't beat the accuracy either.
There are beginning to be a number of low-cost boat design software packages available
out there that may be worthwhile investigating, especially for their built-in fairing
capabilities. Both Ron Franklin and I each discovered that 1-2 of the stations (I
can't recall which ones) were a bit out of fair for this design (no big deal to
correct).
