Whelll, thanks. "Graphic Converter" on the Mac. You just assemble a series
of GIFs into an animated GIF.

It's a tenacious knot, if you really work it down, you have to cut it off.
Esp the variation someone mentioned, which is two turns before passing
under. Recommended for tourniquets (they say). I guess that should be the
next animation: the Double Constrictor.

I believe the article also said it's a good knot for synthetic
ropes/lines/twines which are otherwise slippery.

Small Boat Journal, 12/89, David Seidman, ROPELOCKER

"...makes an excellent temporary whipping on rope or on individual stranda
when makingh a splice... Almost anyplace you might use tape... will be held
tighter and longer with a constrictor knot. Use it (alone or in series) to
repair oars, spars, tool handles or to put a temporary patch on a pipe. THe
knot can replace a C-Clamp when gluing... hld together a pile of battens or
fishing rods, seal a sail bag or hold a piece of material over the neck of
a bottle."

"Slipped Constrictor" -- make final tuck with a loop of the line. Pull on
the end to release the knot.

*> If you look at the lashings described in Wolfgang Brinck's book, many are
*> composed of a clove hitch built around the pieces being lashed.

Ah, well, first I have to LOCATE Wolfgang's book.
