I am in Boston on business, and yesterday I drove out to Provincetown on
the tip of
Cape Cod. Imagine my delight to find out that the museum at the Pilgrim
Monument houses a collection of Greenland Eskimo artifacts, collected by
a local guy done good (apparently he was involved in arctic exploration
with Perry ?). The exhibit discussed this person in great detail, but I
promptly forgot his name after climbing the 200+ foot monument. Never
was very good with names.
A closer examination of the kayak, revealed that the skin had torn in an
arc under the cockpit, and was repaired by what appeared to be genuine
alligator hide.
The collection also contains some stuffed animals (polar bear, birds,
musk ox) toys and models, clothing, hunting artifacts.
