As someone else has also noted, gators seem to enjoy the contact. I have
run over a few on Lake Okeechobee and was lifted pretty well by one and on
another trip had one hit the side of my kayak rather hard with his tail. A
lot of muddy water came into the boat but other than getting dirty that was
it. In the spring during the mating season they will chase a small boat
for a while and when they ascertain that it is not a threat will end the
chase (thank God).
