Hemlock may also work (I think it's hemlock, now that I type it it might be
hickory). Now's the time to collect branches. Soak them in water to make
them more pliable, until you're ready to use them. This is from one of
those old "how they did it ..." books. I'll rummage until I find the exact
reference - it's an "h" wood, and one that doesn't stick in my mind because
I've no hands-on with either of 'em.
