Yes, and so does white oak. We used to have a piece of white oak around the
organbuilding shop to demonstrate this. We mounted a small pipe (simple
flute) in one end and invited people to blow through the other end of the
oak block. It took no pressure at all to make the pipe speak by blowing
right through the block of wood. I'm pretty sure that all of the woods
described as "ring porous" will do this.
