Radio cowboys "Riders In The Sky" are fond of quoting the "don't drink
downstream from the herd" motto. I once offered them a new piece of cowboy
wisdom in the form of a rhyme:
If cookie's been feedin' you beans,
Don't scratch a match on your jeans.
Alas, my contribution to the saga of the west remains under-appreciated.
