Subject: [baidarka] coaming
Finally have a couple minutes to work again. I picked up a green 2x2x8
piece of ash for my coaming. Well, he said it was green but it was cut last
winter so it aint that green anymore. After the half hour drive to the
sawmill I wasnt coming home empty handed though. I suppose after I cut my
3/8 in. strip and soak it it will be fine, right? So, two questions
1) how should I be cutting/bending the strip in relation to the grain, or
does it matter?
2) how does the coaming strip attach to itself at the overlap area-lashed,
glued or????Or is it just the lashing to the deck beam and stringer meant
to hold its shape?
