The one that Derek Hutchinson was selling at symposiums, a number of years
ago, was basically a section of bungee chord with a small ball at each end.
A granny knot around the paddle shaft and another granny knot around a deck
line and it's set up.
That said I agree with Chris Kohut, I don't like paddle leashes and don't
want one on my boat or paddle. I prefer the "paddle death grip" approach
to hanging on to the paddle. There was a great article posted to the
paddlewise mailing list by someone who was almost drowned by their
paddle leash. I can probably dig up the article if people are interested.
