Subject: [baidarka] Unidentified skin boat on Martha's Vineyard
I saw a skin on frame kayak on Martha's Vineyard during a trip last May
and I was wondering if anyone could identify the plans. It was about 17
feet with a wood frame and nylon-neoprene skin. There was no bifid bow,
no rudder, and wood rub-rails over the skin on the keel and gunnels. The
builder used a lighter nylon for the deck with glued seams at the
gunnels. Most stations were marine plywood. It is on the beach adjacent
to the Black Dog Tavern in Vineyard Haven.
This boat had beautiful lines and I would love to build one like it.
Any ideas? Thanks, JH
