Hi Hendrik,
I am close to finishing the frame of my folding greenland 17 footer,
much along the lines of Toms Yost's one (he has sent me furtrher
detailed pictures.
I'm going my way for several parts though, one of which is the coaming.
Having read that Sygma uses HDPE(High density polyethylene), I bought a
stretch of
1" heavy duty tube which I will bend over an oval gig which I just
completed, close with an aluminum riveted insert (3/4" the insert ext
diameter) and fasten permanently to the skin ( a tad loose to allow for
sea sock and spray skirt). I hope it will meet my quest for simplicity
in the kayak assembly.
I will return on this after completion.
Stefano
