I've stuck Craig's "Trukese paddler" up on the web:

Thus inspired, I dug up some of my grandfather's snapshots from WWII. He
has a few photos of a visit to the Stewart Islands. Of the seven
pictures (each about 24K), #7 shows the best view of the paddles:

#1 shows a portion of an outrigger canoe, and #2 shows what appears to
be a model of an outrigger canoe in the foreground.

For some reason grandfather labeled this page "Polynesian Women" in the
