Coracles are very small, mine are 40ins x 33ins x 18ins (some are even round)
they are very instable, and if you want real fun, play a game of water polo
from one, it's an experience.
You are quite right, they do not track well, thats why you paddle them from
the 'front' or using a figure of eight stroke at the side which tends to *pull*
the boat through the water so that tracking is not so important.
It takes a bit of getting used to but once you have it .....
The only book that I know of that is dedicated to coracles was by Hornell but
is now out of print. However if you look back on this list's archive for my
post on coracles which contains some links which may be of interest.
>From the links, the Coracle Museum at Cilgerrin can supply some booklets
etc by airmail but I believe that you would need to telephone or write them
as they are not on the net.
