I've made a few crooked knives the first two were from files 1/8" thick
,9/16" wide single bevel 4" long blade. A blade of these dimensions is
quite strong . My favorite crooked knives are made from an old chainsaws
safety brake spring just over 1/4" wide and only 1/32" thick ,blade
length is 2" a blade this size is very useful and much stronger than
expected. One tool seeing quite a bit of use is the block plane , easy
to control one- handed it rounds off sharp edges on gunnels ,stringers
and sawn ribs filling the air with that yellow cedar aroma....
