Hi Robbie!
I can't tell you much from direct experience as I haven't used PVC on a
boat yet. What I have been told from a couple of others who have used
it
is That seams are welded with special glue at the gunwale or the center
of the deck depending on the boat width. This is with wood framed boats
I don't know what you would do with aluminum. Stretching the fabric to
remove wrinkles can be a challenge. A heat gun is used to help remove
stubborn wrinkles. I am sure there are better skin materials out there
but the cost of importing materials such as Dyson's is prohibitive at
least for me. Besides the Inuit made use of the materials they had at
hand and very primitive tools to build their kayaks. I attempt to do
the same to produce a boat that will satisfy me at a cost I can afford.
That is tradition!
