len,

I will be making a sprayskirt in about two weeks. I decided to use up some
coated, brown cordura nylon left over from a project that fizzled out. The
coated cordura is very water resistant, stiff but not unbearably so, and
will probably outlast me. I have used it to make some custom camping
accessories. It is tough to sew with a regular sewing machine and I will
need to buy strong nylon thread...I may cut it and take it to a shoe repair
store for sewing.

I'll let you know if it works. You might also try uncoated tent nylon to
sew and then buy 'recoat' from campmor (www.campmor.com)or any camping
specialty store. I found a ready-made bungee cord with a red plastic ball
(fastener) at a local Ace hardware store, so I'm all set to sew.

good luck

Rich
