I made mine out of red and yellow cedar laminations 1/4" in the handle part
and 1/2" on the blades. Light (2 lbs 5 oz), strong and very attractive. The
blade has a steam bent oak wear strip because of the red cedar content. The
handle is 3 lams of yellow and 2 lams of red cedar. The handle is sealed
with tung oil and the blades are varnished. The feel of wood when it gets
cool and wet is far nicer than a fiberglass handle.
