Sharpening is pretty easy. Depending upon the style, you typically have one or
two main cutting bevels to touch up with a small file, and possibly one or two
side cutting bevels as well.

Just remember that these are single bevels - filed on one side only. The
unfiled sides of the main chip cutters will face the bottom of the hole being
bored (the unfiled side of any side bevels will face the sides of the hole) or
they won't cut. It's easy to just follow the manufacturer's bevels, but if
these are from a garage sale, thay might have been messed up by a previous
owner. You can always go to a hardware store and see what new ones look like.

The other caution is to examine the screw point, which pulls the bit into and
through the work. If these threads are messed up, it will take a lot more force
to use the bits, and you may reconsider their value.
