You may take a look at the UMIAK. This is cousen to the Baidarka but it
looks alot like a dory. It is skin(nylon) covered and sorta like relative to
the baidarka but should suit your purpose better IMHO. There is an excellent
book on how to build them. It is
"Umiak An Illustrated Guide" by Skip Snaith. ISBN number 0-9658725-9-9 .
Amazon books has it. There is a page on the internet about them and by Skip
Snaith also. Search for SKINBOATS.
