As an ex-motorcyclist I have many years experience with Belstaff
jackets (canvas coated with beewax). They are NOT breathable! They are
waterproof but the coating has to be renewed every 3-4 months to stay
effective in the Pacific Northwest Rainy season. The coating leaves
the jacket somewhat stiff and with a permanent tackiness to it. The
lack of flexibility would be an additional fatigue factor when
paddling.
If you want to see/try one one see any motorcycle dealer
handling British products. Belstaff(UK) is the most common make of
this style of jacket.
