Ralph,

multichine kayaks in stitch and glue are probably a better option to
mess up a woodworking project than a baidarka from Brinck's book.
However,
If you're off for a triple go and TAKE A LOOK to closer Chesapeake light
craft kayaks, in Annapolis. They let you try them and provide ample
choice, Chris is really helpful (which does not mean the Pygmy people
aren't). Not only kayak looks are better, but work needed is much less
and less goopy epoxy to mess up and get stuck with. Boats perform
wonderfully.
They also have boatbuilding courses and pre cut kits.

Stefano, having built two modified versions of the CLC "cape charles"
from plans.
