The easy answer to your question is: not enough! It's worth searching back
issues of woodworking magazines for articles on improvising clamps - unless
your budget is unlimited. There are many inexpensive alternatives to
spending your savings on clamps. Alas, it's hard to avoid having a few
commercial clamps. We had cartloads (literally - on wheels to take to the
job) of the damn things at the pipeorgan shop - and still ran out regularly
during projects.
