This sounds right. It's great stuff, the tarring is not "gooky" but rather
keeps the twine from slipping over itself as you knot. Naturally, it's
black. If figure if it can stand up to a fishing net, it can hold some
stringers together <chuckle>. I'm not too worried about stretch right now.
The whole deal is, after all, an ongoing experiment.
The main problem with the previous nylon twine, which was the stuff you
would use doing masonry work, is that it was slippery, and also laid up
loosely so it tended to fray out very quickly. It was hard to work with.
Again, this was an experiment, and I'd say the seine twine is a much better
item.
I also use if for miscellaneous whippings and for bindings around bamboo
poles (I use bamboo poles as pushpoles for my larger boats - hah! - larger!
- 12 ft x 4 ft).
