Sewing the canvas is a not too uncommon practice for canoe skins, especially
for large freighters. Typicall, the canvas is avaiable up to 72" wide. I
would recommend taking it to you local tent and awning place where they have
real no nonsense sewing machines. They don't charge TOO much, however, the
cost may not make your savings on the original purchase quite so attractive
