I secure my bungies and deck lines by sewing through the skin. However I use
polyester skin 13oz. I have had no trouble pulling out.
I used to use screws through wooden straps and found that they stick up and
it was a pain. I did have some of the screws pull out under strain but I was
only using 3/4".
In case you have not bought UA-75 recently it has been replaced with UA-7000
at about twice the price and three times the viscosity. It is now much
harder to apply but still gives the same great protection.

or onto the skin? The way I wee it is if they are tied into the frame
through the skin then there are points on the skin that cannot move
independently from the frame and will cause localized stress. On the other
hand if they are tied onto the skin they will stress only the skin, which
may not be the strongest place to place this stress (plus the constant
tension of bungee type lines would place constant tension on those points.)

the skin with stainless screws and nylon webbing tabs ala CLC/The Kayak
Shop. Can anyone see any fatal flaws with this? Are the any "better"
ways of doing this? By the way I'm using 8oz nylon and (most likely) gaco
UA-75 urethane for the skin.
