Subject: Re: baidarka deck lines
I used 3/8 bungee cords through 1/4" holes, pulled right through the #10
canvas, which is painted with oil-based house paint. I then ran length-wise
lines from the bow and stern bungees to the bungees just fore and aft of the
coaming (these lines are also used to strap it to the car). They work great;
just about anything can be tucked securely under them, and are not going
to get in the way like screw-ins might. The tight fit (I believe) will keep
moisture from working into the frame and the interior canvas.
