I must say I find the price of a steam box horrifying - especially since I
made one last week in half an hour from the instructions in Wolfgang's book,
with an old pan, some 4"x3/4" fir ($5 approx.) and some bricks and a scrap of
ply I found in the garage. I use a camping stove to heat the water and it
works perfectly.
I once made one with PVC pipe and it softened and bent with the heat.
