Charles,
Yurts share the same skin (actually felt) on frame solution of elegant ends
to means that kayaks do.

Since it's so quiet, let me ask my off-topic question...

The thing that fascinates me about baidarkas is the idea of sticks and
fabric being put together into something large and solid. It seems to me
that kites and wooden airplanes share this characteristic. Perhaps also
tents and convertible tops.

Can anyone think of other similar devices that are, or were at one time
made like this?
