I think Dennis Conner (stars & stripes '87) used the 3m coating that
had fishscale like grooves.

I don't think those boats ever did much better than 10 - 12 knots;
and the margins of victory were close enough that anythingt that
provides an advantage is worth it.

Although doesn't drag get cubed if you double the speed?

I'll look forward to seeing your craft out on the Charles!(I'm in
