When I fitted the bow piece to my baidarka, the amount of lateral
movement seemed excessive, even though the arched portions of the bow
piece and bow block were a pretty good fit. I did the logical thing
and notched the bow block to recieve a small chamfer glued into the
angle of the bow piece. It worked so well and was such an obvious
thing to do that I wonder if Aleut boats werent constructed the same
way. This feature is not visible in an assembled frame; is there any
evidence pro or con from extant unassembled parts?
